Privacy

FilamentMonkey is a small, hobbyist affiliate site. We collect as little about you as possible.

What we collect

• Page requests. Our web server logs the URL you visited, the date, and your user agent. We use these only to debug and to detect abuse.
• Outbound deal clicks. “Buy on Amazon” (and other merchant) buttons go through our /api/go/… redirect so we can count clicks in aggregate (deal id, time, coarse referrer, and a daily-rotating fingerprint — not your raw IP). That helps us see which listings get attention.
• Contact form / report submissions. If you write to us via /contact or report a deal via /report/..., we store the message and a salted hash of your IP address — not the raw IP — so we can spot repeated abuse without keeping personally-identifying network data.
• Google Analytics (optional). When analytics is enabled for the live site, Google Analytics 4 may collect standard page-view and usage metrics (including IP addresses processed by Google, with IP anonymization requested where supported). See Google’s privacy policy. We use this only to understand traffic volume and popular pages.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or share contact-form contents.
• We do not run advertising networks on FilamentMonkey pages.
• We do not build marketing profiles beyond what GA4 provides for site operators when analytics is enabled.

Cookies

• A small session cookie is used for the /admin area only.
• When Google Analytics is enabled, Google may set analytics cookies. You can block them with browser settings or extensions; the site still works without them.

Affiliate and partner links

Product links to Amazon use the Amazon Associates program. Some partner links (for example brand referral or rewards programs) may earn FilamentMonkey a commission or rewards if you purchase or sign up. Those programs have their own privacy policies on the destination site.

Retention

• Server logs are rotated and discarded after 30 days.
• Click events are kept for operational analytics; older events may be pruned on a schedule as the site grows.
• Contact messages and deal reports are kept until reviewed plus 90 days.
• Google Analytics retention follows the property settings in the Google Analytics admin console.
